Praia de Fora – The Hidden Side of As Ilhas
Smaller and more secluded than its counterpart, Praia de Fora sits on the far side of As Ilhas, facing more open waters. Depending on wind and wave conditions, the beach can feel either calm and peaceful or exposed and wild — a contrast that gives it a unique and unpredictable character.
Like the rest of the island, it’s only accessible by boat, and there are no paths linking it to Praia do Pontal. Despite its remote feel, Praia de Fora has a small kiosk and a few beach chairs and tables for visitors. The two residents living nearby operate these services, and as with the other beach, the prices are high, reflecting the island's isolation and the fact that this is their only source of income.
Weekdays are often quiet, with moments of near solitude, while weekends bring a livelier atmosphere as boats arrive and visitors come ashore. For those looking for a different kind of beach experience—close to nature, far from the usual crowds—Praia de Fora delivers something special.
