Beaches in Norway
Norway is not the first place that comes to mind when people think of beach destinations — but along the long and rugged coastline, you'll find countless beaches, many of them surprisingly beautiful, remote, and dramatic. From wide sandy stretches along the southern coast to hidden coves and arctic beaches in the far north, Norway offers something completely unique for beach lovers.
I live in Haugesund, right by Karmøy, home to some of Norway’s nicest stretches of sand. Growing up near the coast, the beach has always been part of everyday life — whether it's windy walks, summer swims (for the brave), or just watching the waves roll in.
The beaches here might not have tropical temperatures, but they have something else: wide, clean coastlines, dunes, rugged rocks, and that raw, untouched feeling you only get in Norway.
Most Norwegian beaches are shaped by nature itself — wild, clean, and often surrounded by fjords, cliffs, or pine forests. The summer months offer the best chance for a swim, but many beaches here are worth visiting year-round, whether for hiking, photography, surfing, or simply to enjoy the scenery.
I created this section to share photos, videos, and information from different beaches I visit around Norway. Some are well-known, others are hidden gems I came across during my travels.
