Sandane
Åkrasanden is a beautiful coastal beach area in Åkrehamn on Karmøy, Rogaland. Stretching along the open North Sea, it is often ranked among Norway’s finest sandy beaches and is proudly awarded the Blue Flag for clean water and high environmental standards.
Locally, the area is known as “Sandane” — literally “the beaches” — because residents have individual names for each stretch of sand along the shoreline. People who don’t live close to the coast, however, usually refer to the entire area simply as Åkrasanden (“The Åkra Beach”). Together, these beaches form a long, open landscape of white sand, rolling dunes and Atlantic waves, popular for swimming, walking, photography and year-round coastal experiences.
